Palmer headed to Iceland in pursuit of the dream

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Born and raised in South Florida, Jamal Palmer’s dream of playing professional basketball is taking him to Iceland after he signed to play with Thor AK Akureyri.

“Since I was a kid it was always a dream of mine to become a professional athlete playing the sport that I love,” said Palmer.

Thor AK Akureyri went 17-4 in the Dominos League of Icelandic Basketball League and they start their season in early October.

“It’s a great feeling for myself and my family, but at the end of the day it’s just the beginning and there are many more opportunities to come,” Palmer said.

As a senior at Lynn University, he averaged a career-high 16.4 points per game and went out on a high note when he scored a career-best 29 points against Nova Southeastern in his final game in the Blue and White. Palmer was named to the Sunshine State Conference Honorable Mention team. In three of his four years on campus, Palmer averaged over 13 points per game and led the team in scoring as a junior.
