OXFORD, Ohio – Florida Atlantic volleyball closed out play in Ohio on Saturday, earning a four-set victory (25-21, 27-25, 24-26, 25-20) against host Miami (OH) inside Millett Hall.

Florida Atlantic closed out play in the Miami/Best Western Invitational on Saturday, earning a 3-1 victory over the host RedHawks.
Four Owls scored double-figures in the win, led by juniors Romina Cornelio and Kaila Ru with a team-leading 14 kills apiece. Ru also posted a team-leading .393 hitting percentage and match-best six blocks. Victoria Hensley led the Owls in assists with a match-high 31. Isabelle Northam led the Owls in digs, recording a match-high 21 digs.
The two teams battled in the opening set to a 12-11 Florida Atlantic lead, however the Owls scored five in a row to break out into their largest lead of the set at 17-11. The RedHawks cut the Owl lead to three after a 4-0 run to make it 21-18, however the Owls closed the set outscoring Miami (OH) 4-3 to take the opening set, 25-21.
After an early RedHawk lead in the second, the Owls battled back to even things up at eight. The Owls retook the lead and maintained the advantage through 21-18, but a late RedHawk 3-0 run evened the set at 21-21. Things remained even at 25-25, but a Kaila Ru kill and a RedHawk attack error gave the Owls the 27-25 win and a 2-0 advantage.
The Owls held a 23-18 advantage in the third set, but a late 5-0 run from the RedHawks brought things even at 23-23. After a service error, the RedHawks scored three unanswered to close out the set, 26-24, and force a set four.
Florida Atlantic stated our quick to take a 9-5 lead in the fourth. The Owls maintained a 23-16 advantage, before another late RedHawk rally cut the Owls’ lead to just three at 23-20, however kills from Arianna Beckham and Lauryn Green closed out the match, 25-20, to secure the four-set Owl victory.
