Owls Move Up to No. 13 in Latest AP Poll

BOCA RATON, Fla. –The Florida Atlantic University men’s basketball team (5-1) has moved up to No. 13 in the Associated Press Top 25, as announced by the AP on Monday afternoon.

This follows a week which saw the Owls storm through three games in four days to win the 2023 ESPN Events Invitational: a 91-86 victory over Butler, a 96-89 win over No. 14 Texas A&M, and an 84-50 takedown of Virginia Tech in the championship game.

Florida Atlantic was an offensive force to be reckoned with after rediscovering their shooting touch, averaging 90.3 points per game on 54.2% shooting from the field and 43.2% from beyond the arc.

The always well-balanced Owls received contributions from many players, led by tournament MVP Alijah Martin who averaged 18.3 points per game and 5.7 rebounds. He was supplemented by junior guard Johnell Davis (17.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.7 steals), senior guard Jalen Gaffney (11.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 4.7 assists), senior guard Bryan Greenlee (11.0 points, 4.0 assists, 2.0 steals) as well as junior big man Vlad Goldin (14.3 points on just two missed shots, 6.3 rebounds, 2.3 blocks).

Florida Atlantic is back at the Elly for the three-team Field of 68 Classic. The Owls will host Liberty on Thursday, Nov. 30 at 6 p.m. and Charleston on Saturday, Dec. 2. Both games will tip off at 6 p.m. and aired on ESPNU.
