BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic University baseball team (20-10) welcomes UAB (19-9) to town for a three-game Conference USA series. The Owls (6-3) and Blazers (5-4) are separated by just one game in the standings entering the weekend.

OWLS IN REVIEW
The Owls earned their first C-USA sweep last weekend against Rice. They kept the momentum going on Tuesday with a dramatic 5-3 comeback win against UCF. Nolan Schanuel’s two-run home run in the eighth inning gave FAU its first lead of the night. Robert Wegielnik pitched two shutout frames including the ninth inning where he struck out the side.
THE OWLS’ OPPONENT
UAB is coming off a 6-4 loss to No. 25 Auburn on Tuesday. The Blazers took two of three from Marshall last weekend.
Christian Hall is UAB’s top hitter with a .411 average, six home runs, and 26 RBI. The junior hit two home runs on Tuesday against Auburn. Josh Sears, a transfer from NAIA powerhouse Freed-Hardeman University, leads the team with eight home runs and 31 RBI.
Under new head coach Casey Dunn, the Blazers have already surpassed their win total from 2021 when they went 18-36.

The Owls are 14-10 all-time against UAB. They’ve split the last 10 meetings 5-5. These two sides haven’t played in Boca Raton since 2018.
In last season’s four-game series in Birmingham, the Owls won game two 2-1 and game four 5-3. The Blazers took the series-opener in 10 innings and the second game of the Saturday doubleheader by a final 4-2.
