Orange Bowl To Host Inaugural Girls High School Basketball Showcase This Weekend

Orange Bowl Florida Girls High School Basketball Showcase presented by Baptist Health to give South Florida girls basketball players the opportunity to showcase their talents to college coaches from around the country
Miami Lakes, Fla. (www.orangebowl.org) – The inaugural Orange Bowl Florida Girls High School Football Showcase presented by Baptist Health will tip off on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at the David Posnack Jewish Community Center in Davie, FL. This free, one-day event is designed to give South Florida’s junior and senior girls basketball players the opportunity to showcase their talents to NCAA Division II, Division III, NAIA and junior colleges from around the country.
The Orange Bowl’s mission and vision is to promote and serve South Florida in order to inspire youth, engage the community and enhance the economy. The Orange Bowl Florida High School Basketball Showcase presented by Baptist Health meets these goals by providing an opportunity for young student-athletes to leverage their athletic and academic skills to attend college and ultimately earn a degree.
Similar to the Orange Bowl’s high school football showcase, which annually generates an estimated $1 million in financial aid and scholarships to student-athletes, participants will run through a series of tests and drills designed to best display each individual’s talents at their respective positions. During the basketball showcase, student-athletes and college representatives will have the opportunity to meet to discuss financial aid opportunities and other pertinent information.
Registration is free for all student-athletes and participating colleges. Student-athletes must be a graduating high school senior or a high school junior who has not accepted a scholarship offer from a Division I basketball program. In addition, participants must meet the following qualifications:
Have a 2.5 GPA or higher in 16 Core Courses; AND Have an SAT score of 920 (math and verbal only) or higher (NAIA Requirement: 970 if test was taken after May 1, 2019); OR Have a composite ACT Score of 18 or higher or a sum score of 68 or higher
The Orange Bowl Florida Girls High School Basketball Showcase presented by Baptist Health is possible thanks to the generosity of presenting sponsor Baptist Health and associate sponsors AEA, Ambetter from Sunshine Health, American Airlines, Cinch Home Services, KEMET, Nike, PDQ, Tire Kingdom and Toyota.
