Teaching football fundamentals, proper technique, safety and character development to young athletes
Miami Lakes, Fla. (www.orangebowl.org) – This summer, the Orange Bowl will host a free Orange Bowl Youth Football Alliance (OBYFA) Football Clinic in partnership with Florida International University and Head Coach Butch Davis, in addition to partnering with the University of Miami to assist with two of its Manny Diaz Football Camps. Each of the three clinics will be held at an Orange Bowl Legacy Park Project – recreational parks in South Florida that have been renovated by the Orange Bowl Committee and its partners.
The free OBYFA Football Clinic will take place on Sunday, June 13, 2021 at Orange Bowl Field at Moore Park in Miami, Fla. and will welcome boys and girls ages 5-14 who have not enrolled in high school. The instruction, led by FIU Head Coach Butch Davis and his coaching staff, will focus on proper safety, development, good sportsmanship and football education. Participants will run through various offensive and defensive drills and will hone in on proper techniques to promote on-field football safety.
The University of Miami’s Manny Diaz Football Camps will be hosted at two of Orange Bowl Committee’s Legacy Park Projects – Orange Bowl Field at Carter Park in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. and Orange Bowl Field at Pioneer Park in Belle Glade, Fla – on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 and Tuesday, June 22, 2021, respectively. University of Miami student-athletes will assist the Hurricanes coaching staff to teach kids the basic fundamentals of football. Both Manny Diaz Football Camps are free and available to anyone ages 5-14 who have not enrolled in high school.
“The Orange Bowl is extremely proud to partner with Florida International University and the University of Miami to host these free football clinics for our young South Florida athletes,” said Orange Bowl Committee President and Chair Jack Seiler. “Our goal is to provide youth the opportunity to be successful on and off the field by promoting football safety and good sportsmanship, and having high-profile coaches such as Butch Davis and Manny Diaz leading those efforts will make a lasting impact on kids of all ages.”
