ORANGE BOWL ANNOUNCES CANCELLATION AND POSTPONEMENT OF UPCOMING EVENTS

MIAMI LAKES, Fla. (orangebowl.orgDue to the national emergency caused by the Coronavirus pandemic, the Orange Bowl Committee announced today the cancellation and postponement of several upcoming community events.
The Orange Bowl Florida Girls High School Basketball Showcase, scheduled for this coming Saturday, March 21 at Nova Southeastern University, has been cancelled for 2020.
The Windhaven Insurance Orange Bowl Paddle Championships and the AvMed Orange Bowl 5K Run, originally scheduled for May 9, will be rescheduled to a later date.
The Orange Bowl Food and Wine Celebration presented by Florida Blue, will be held in the fall.
“We felt it was prudent to cancel or postpone these events with federal and local emergencies having been declared in light of the rapidly changing landscape regarding the Coronavirus,” said Orange Bowl President and Chair Jeff E. Rubin. “We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank those involved for your patience and understanding.”
At this time, other events including the summer Metro by T-Mobile Orange Bowl Youth Football and cheerleading clinics and Orange Bowl Family Fun and Fit Day presented by Sunshine Health, will proceed as scheduled.
Community events and fundraising is one of four pillars of community outreach which also includes youth sports, academic programs and scholarships, and legacy gifts. Over the last 10 years, the Orange Bowl, with partner support, has invested more than $25 million in the South Florida community through its community outreach.
The Orange Bowl will continue to proactively monitor this extremely fluid situation and will provide updated information as it becomes available regarding all of its events.
