Oakland Park wants to increase the tree canopy

Protecting and increasing the local tree canopy is a priority for Oakland Park, which has been a Tree City USA for over 30 years. Since 2015, the City has invested more than $500,00 to plant more than 1,000 trees throughout the community. The City recently received a $20,000 Urban and Community Forestry grant to plant 54 trees in City Park, which is under construction at 3900 NE Third Avenue. Oakland Park would like to thank the U.S. Forest Service, the Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services, and the Florida Forest Service for their technical and financial assistance that will enhance our urban forest and increase our local tree canopy.

A developer plans to seek approval for the construction of Savona Townhouses at 4200 NE 7th Terrace in Oakland Park. They will host a virtual public neighborhood participation meeting regarding the project on Monday, August 8th, at 6:30 p.m.
