Oakland Park homeowners will see lower property taxes during the upcoming year.
Oakland Park leaders are proposing to lower its operating property tax rate again next year while continuing to invest in parks, infrastructure, public safety, and other improvements residents rely on every day.
The City Commission supports a proposed FY 2027 operating millage rate of 5.6799 mills. If adopted following the September public hearings, it would be the 12th rate reduction in the last 13 years and the city’s lowest operating millage rate in 18 years.
Since 2014, Oakland Park has cut its operating millage rate by more than 11 percent, saving taxpayers over $22.3 million, all while investing in new parks, public facilities, roadway and drainage projects, public safety, and neighborhood improvements citywide.
Strong property value growth has helped Oakland Park lower the tax rate while continuing to invest in the community. The city’s tax base has now grown for 14 consecutive years, allowing rates to keep falling without cutting services. For FY 2027, taxable property value rose 6.49 percent to a record $6.62 billion.
More than $69 million in new construction and renovation was added to the tax roll this year alone, bringing the five-year total since FY 2022 to over $540 million. That sustained growth has allowed Oakland Park to continue investing in infrastructure, public safety, and quality-of-life improvements while keeping the operating tax rate low.
The City of Oakland Park celebrated the completion of upgrades at Stevens Field with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, July 17, 2026. Elected officials, city leaders, summer camp participants, and community members gathered at 3881 NE 6th Avenue to mark the reopening of the popular recreation space.
The project features a new walking trail, LED field lighting, enhanced drainage, fresh grading and sod, site furnishings, and a new restroom building. The improvements support recreation, accessibility, and year-round use while creating a more welcoming place for athletes, families, and neighbors.
The project received a $1 million federal grant through the Land and Water Conservation Fund to support field improvements and drainage work. Oakland Park has secured more than $71 million in grant awards since 2015 to advance infrastructure, parks, public safety, and mobility.
