Oakland Park installs landscaping and plans improvement to a park

The City of Oakland Park plans to install new trees and shrubs in the medians along Oakland Park Boulevard, between NW 31 Avenue and NW 21 Avenue. While landscaping is installed, Oakland Park Boulevard will be reduced to two lanes in either direction. The temporary lane closures will be in effect on weekdays, from February 7 to May 31, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The City of Oakland Park is working with the community to plan improvements to Dr. Carter G. Woodson Park. The City held public meetings in October and December 2021 to get public input. The City will hold an in person or on Zoom to get an update and learn more about the project on Thursday, February 10, 6:30 p.m. Collins Community Center 3900 NE 3 Avenue


Miam-Dade leaders celebrate improvements at Ives Estates Park

On the morning February 8, 2022, Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners Vice Chairman and District 1 Commissioner Oliver G. Gilbert, III and Miami-Dade County Parks Director Maria I. Nardi gathered to officially dedicate newly completed improvements at Ives Estates Park, 20901 NE 16 Ave., Miami. Among the new park developments are a new practice field for the community to play sports, picnic shelters for people to enjoy, and fenced-in dog areas. 

Improvements include a new 1.27-acre practice field, two new picnic shelters, new picnic tables and park benches, and two new fully equipped fenced-in dog areas, for small and large dogs. In addition, the park received new landscaping, road repairs, a new eight foot wide by 1,400-foot-long mulched nature trail and a new eight foot wide by 1,430-foot-long asphalt walkway.

The improvement project was completed by Miami-Dade Parks Design and Build Team, in collaboration with construction contractor Hartec Group Inc.

The 99.52-acre Ives Estates Park also has a football field, a soccer field, a baseball field, a playground, a fitness center, open spaces, and a recreation building.
