OAKLAND OPENS THE SEASON WITH 94-66 WIN OVER GOSHEN


ROCHESTER, Mich. – 
Brad Brechting and Daniel Oladapo led all scorers with 21 points as the Oakland men’s basketball team cruised to a 94-66 win over Goshen College Tuesday night from the O’rena. 

Brechting went a perfect 8-of-8 from the floor and added four rebounds, while Oladpo recorded his first career double-double for the Golden Grizzlies pairing 12 rebounds with his 21 points.

Xavier Hill-Mais (15), Kevin Kangu (13) and Blake Lampman (10) rounded out the double digit scoring performances for Oakland as Lampman went 3-of-3 from behind the arc.

The Golden Grizzlies (1-0) got up to a 41-25 halftime lead, holding Goshen (2-2) to just 32 percent shooting in the first 20 minutes. 

Oakland forced 20 turnovers and scored 25 points off the Maple Leafs’ miscues. 

The Golden Grizzlies shot 52 percent from the floor (33-of-64) and out-rebounded Goshen 48-26.

Oakland will travel to Kissimmee, Fla. for the Sunshine Slam, Nov. 8-10 and will open the tournament Friday against Delaware at 5 p.m.
