OAKLAND AND MICHIGAN STATE MEN’S BASKETBALL AGREE TO SIX-YEAR DEAL

ROCHESTER, Mich. — The Oakland University and Michigan State University men’s basketball teams have agreed to a six-year agreement.  The new agreement will feature three games at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit and three games at the Breslin Center, with the first contest of the new deal beginning Dec. 14, 2019 as the Golden Grizzlies host the Spartans at Little Caesars Arena.

“I am extremely excited for this series to continue,” said Oakland University Head Men’s Basketball coach Greg Kampe. “MSU is a gold standard in college basketball. With the Big Ten’s 20-game conference schedule it would have been easy for MSU to end the series, so I appreciate MSU and Tom for continuing it. The largest single-game regular season basketball crowd in Palace history was Oakland-MSU and it was the highest-rated game on ESPNU that year. The largest college basketball crowd ever at Little Caesars Arena was our game with Michigan State in 2017. I know both fan bases will come out in full force.”

Oakland and Michigan State first met on the hardwood in 1998. The two teams last played at Little Caesars Arena in 2017, with the game drawing the largest college basketball crowd in arena history at 20,695.

Oakland University Men’s Basketball season ticket holders will have the opportunity to purchase pre-sale tickets for this game. Game time and ticket information will be announced at a later date. Oakland University basketball season tickets are on sale now.
