NSU Track and Field Opens 2021 Campaign on Saturday in Miramar

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern men’s and women’s track and field squads jump right into their 2021 seasons on Saturday at the Ansin Sports Complex in Miramar, competing in the first of four meets hosted by St. Thomas at the facility the schools share. The Sharks only made it two meets into the 2020 campaign before the season was cut short.

“To say we’re excited to get back into competition is an understatement,” 13th-year head coach Bryan Hagopian said. “It’s been a year and for some athletes it’s been two years since they’ve seen a competition, so we’re very ready. We’ve got some great opportunities, some awesome kids that are going to finish their career on a high note and we’re just really pumped up. We’ve got some great senior leaders to guide our freshman class to quicker maturity, and we’re ready to have a great season.”

On Saturday, February 20, the Sharks head to Miramar for the first South Florida Challenge meet. As hosts, the Bobcats will get things started with field events, specifically the javelin, at 2:30 p.m. The final field event begins at 6:30 p.m. with the pole vault. The running events will open up at 5:00 p.m. with the 5000m and close with the 4x400m relay at the end of a rolling schedule.

The Sharks and Bobcats will meet three more times this year, as South Florida Challenge meets will be held on March 9, March 13 and then the Sharks will hold their Senior Day at the final regular season meet, April 17.

The Peach Belt Championships are slated for April 30-May 1 on Embry-Riddle’s campus in Daytona Beach, while the NCAA DII Championships are in Grand Valley, Michigan, May 27-29.
