INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – In their second consecutive opportunity under head coach Doug Neagle, the Nova Southeastern women’s tennis team (9-2) is again headed for the NCAA postseason. Ranked third in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings, the Sharks will begin competition on Friday, May 7 at West Florida’s Ralph “Skeeter” Carson Tennis Complex, entering the Regional as the fourth seed and facing fifth-seeded Saint Leo in NSU’s eighth NCAA appearance.
The Sharks are led by first-court sophomore Natalie Espinal, the 10th-ranked player nationally in the ITA with an 8-3 record on the season. She pairs with junior Chantal Nosievici as the ITA’s second-ranked doubles pair with a 6-4 record. On court No. 2, junior Karolina Snita ranks 17th and holds an 8-1 record on the year, while Nosievici and 19th-ranked Daniela Obando both each earned a 7-1 mark. Obando partnered with Isabella Lowrey for a 6-1 record on doubles court two. A force on the sixth court, second-season freshman Celia Montero Estevan went 8-3 this year.
Meeting for the third time this season, the Sharks and Lions will square off at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at the Carson Tennis Complex. After defeating SLU in the Sunshine State Conference Championships, 4-0, NSU fell to top-seeded Barry as SSC Runner-Up.
Across the past three seasons under Neagle, the Sharks are 44-8 and are now appearing for the second time in as many opportunities in the NCAA Championships.
