No. 5 Sharks Tennis Opens Road Swing with Sweep at Eckerd

NSU moves to 6-0 with the fourth sweep this season

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The No. 5 Nova Southeastern women’s tennis team (6-0, 3-0 SSC) made quick work of yet another Sunshine State Conference foe on Friday afternoon, moving past Eckerd (0-1, 0-1 SSC) in a 7-0 win – the fourth sweep in six matches this season.

DOUBLES

  • In No. 2 doubles, Daniela Obando and Tingting Pei started the Sharks on the road to a complete sweep, defeating Bailey Koronich and Theo Schultz, 6-1.
  • At the threes, Diane Follin-Arbelet and Karolina Snita topped Cassisdy Lear and Alexis Kwasnik, 6-2.
  • Closing out the doubles sweep in the first flight, NCAA No. 1 pair Natalie Espinaland Sarah Wardenburg delivered the 6-2 finish over Taylor Selby and Lili Reichert.

SINGLES

  • Pei picked up right where she left off in doubles with the Sharks’ initial singles victory, going 6-1, 6-1 past Reichert in the second flight.
  • Following up in No. 3 singles, Follin-Arbelet topped Koronich, 6-0, 6-2.
  • With the fours, Isabella Lowrey downed Schultz 6-1, 6-1 to clinch the match, just ahead of Ivan Djordjevic’s 6-1, 6-2 victory over Lear.
  • In the sixth flight, Caitlyn Khan defeated Angeline Kossoff, 6-3, 6-0.
  • At No. 1 singles, No. 38 Obando closed out the sweep with a long 6-1, 6-0 victory over Selby.

UP NEXT
The Sharks continue on to their fourth match of the week in Lakeland on Saturday at No. 18 Florida Southern, closing out the weekend at the USTA Campus in Orlando against Davenport on Sunday.
