INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI’s Marcus Burk averaged 32.0 points per game, made 13 3-pointers and scored the most points in a game during HL play this season to earn Nike® #HLMBB Player of the Week, while Wright State’s Tanner Holden led the Raiders to a 32-point win at home on ESPNU with 20 points and 13 rebounds to be named Nike® #HLMBB Freshman of the Week as the Horizon League announced its men’s basketball weekly honors on Monday.

Marcus Burk | IUPUI | Junior | Guard | Indianapolis, Ind.
Burk collects his second #HLMBB Player of the Week honor after averaging 32.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game, while shooting 48 percent (22-of-46) from the field and 48 percent (13-of-27) from 3-point range. He opened the week with his first career double-double at Detroit Mercy, closing with 25 points on 10-of-22 shooting, including 5-for-12 from long range, 10 rebounds and three assists in 38 minutes of action. The junior followed with a career-high 39 points by shooting 50 percent (12-24) from the floor and going 8-of-15 from downtown in the Jaguars’ 89-85 overtime win at Oakland. The win snapped the Jaguars’ four-game skid and was IUPUI’s first win at Oakland since 2006. His 39 points were the most by a Horizon League player in a game this season and the most by an IUPUI player since Alex Young scored 43 against Western Kentucky on Dec. 10, 2011. 

#HLMBB Freshman of the Week
Tanner Holden | Wright State | Freshman | Guard | Wheelersburg, Ohio
Holden now has two #HLMBB Freshman of the Week awards this season after tallying a game-high 20 points in the Raiders’ 95-63 victory over Northern Kentucky on Friday. The Wheelersburg, Ohio native shot 70 percent from the floor (7-10) en route to his third 20-point performance this season. The talented freshman also added 13 rebounds to record his third double-double of the season. He evenly spread his production over both the first and second halves, turning in nine points and eight rebounds in the first 20 minutes of action before 11 points and five rebounds in the second half.

INDIANAPOLIS – After a 2-0 week at home, Wright State has swept the Nike® #HLWBB weekly awards. Junior center Tyler Frierson averaged 16.5 points per game and 12.0 rebounds per game, posting two double-doubles for the Raiders to earn Nike® #HLWBB Player of the Week honors. Redshirt freshman forward Shamarre Hale added 12.5 points per game and 10.0 rebounds in the two victories to earn Nike® Freshman of the Week recognition for the first time.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK | TYLER FRIERSON | WRIGHT STATE | JUNIOR | CENTER | LONG BEACH, CALIF.

Junior Tyler Frierson recorded back-to-back double-doubles for the Raiders at home against Detroit Mercy and Oakland this week. Against Detroit Mercy, the junior pulled down 11 rebounds, eight of which were offensive, adding 17 points for the Raiders. On Saturday against Oakland, the California native pulled down a game-leading 13 rebounds, nine of which were on the offensive end, and tallied 16 points. Through two games, the junior averaged 16.5 points per game and 12 rebounds per game.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK | SHAMARRE HALE | WRIGHT STATE | REDSHIRT FRESHMAN | FORWARD | CRETE, ILL.

Redshirt freshman Shamarre Hale tallied a total of 25 points between the Raiders two home Horizon League matchups against Detroit Mercy and Oakland last week.  Hale pulled down 20 rebounds between the two contests, with a game-leading and career-high 13 rebounds against Detroit Mercy Thursday. Through two games the redshirt freshman averaged 12.5 points per game (a career high 15 points vs. Oakland). Thursday’s contest marked Hale’s first career double-double in a Raiders uniform, which she earned in just 11 minutes of play.
