NFL Signs for Lions, Jaguars, and Dolphins

LIONS SIGN FREE AGENT DE WILL CLARKE
Detroit releases G Caleb Benenoch
Allen Park, Mich.— The Detroit Lions announced today that they have signed free agent DE Will Clarke and released G Caleb Benenoch. Additional contract terms were not disclosed.
Entering his sixth NFL season, Clarke has appeared in 53 career games and registered 36 total tackles and 7.0 sacks. Originally selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the third round of the 2014 NFL Draft (88th overall) out of West Virginia, Clarke spent three seasons with the Bengals (2014-16) before joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for parts of two seasons (2017-18). He most recently played for the St. Louis BattleHawks of the XFL.

JAGUARS SIGN TIGHT END MATT FLANAGAN

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jaguars have signed first-year TE Matt Flanagan and waived/injured TE Charles Jones (quad/foot), the club announced today. Jones will revert to the team’s reserve/injured list if he is not claimed via waivers.

Flanagan, 6-6, 260, originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with Washington in 2018 and appeared in three games as a rookie, catching one pass for 14 yards. Collegiately, Flanagan played one season at Pittsburgh as a graduate transfer after a four-year career at Rutgers, where he appeared in 33 games with 18 catches. A native of Chester, N.J. he played football and ran track at West Morris Mendham H.S.

Flanagan will wear No. 85 for the Jaguars.

Miami Dolphins sign Holley

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have signed safety Nate Holley.

Holley originally entered the NFL on June 8, 2018 when he signed with the Los Angeles Rams. He spent training camp there before he was waived on Sept. 2, 2018. Holley also spent time with the Nebraska Danger of the Indoor Football League (2018) and the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League (2019). He was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Rookie following the 2019 season after he totaled 78 defensive tackles, 22 special teams tackles, one sack and one interception in 18 games.
