NFL Launches NFL Career Tours

Professional Development Program Includes 60 NFL Players and Legends

NFL Players Gain Valuable Experience from Industry Leaders

The NFL today launched a professional development program called NFL Career Tours, to provide current players and Legends with exclusive access to major organizations to learn about various career opportunities and network with industry leaders.

Designed by the NFL Player Engagement Department, which supports NFL players and their families during their playing experience and beyond, NFL Career Tours includes 60 current NFL players and Legends attending the behind-the-scenes experience to learn more about entertainment, sports business, and the music industry. This year, the NFL has partnered with the Fifth Season and Hidden Empire film groups, Nike, and Interscope Records.

“We are very excited about the innovation of the offseason player programming,” said Tracy Perlman, NFL Vice President of Player Operations. “The career tours will give players an opportunity to experience different industries as they look to explore their off-field passions.”

“The NFL Career Tours gives our players an opportunity to see beyond the football field and prepare for their future by networking and learning the key elements to advance in various industries,” said Cleveland Browns Director of Player Engagement, Ron Brewer. “We are excited that our players have decided to take advantage and will support them in every way to help them grow and succeed in areas outside of our game.”

“As athletes — and by extension entertainers — it’s important for us to understand the business of entertainment and the layered work that goes into building revenue, compelling storytelling and consumer connection,” said Kelvin Beachum of the Arizona Cardinals. “I’m grateful to the NFL for providing the experience to learn and understand the industry at every level to inspire more well-rounded career development.”

On March 6-7, attendees will travel to Los Angeles to work with Fifth Season and Hidden Empire to gain an all-access look into all facets of the entertainment industry, including acting, casting for roles, directing, financing, producing, and distributing movies.

Another group will travel to Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Ore., on March 13-14 for a look at the sports business industry, including product development, marketing, and branding. They will also tour Nike’s state-of-the-art campus.

Finally, a third group of attendees will travel to Interscope Records in Los Angeles on March 20-21. They will learn about all aspects of the music industry, including becoming an artist, managing an artist, promoting the music, operating a record label, and envisioning the money needed to be successful. The participants will also connect with artists, producers, and various executives involved with Interscope Records, Universal Music, and Interscope Geffen A&M Records.
