FALCONS QB MARCUS MARIOTA, SEAHAWKS CB TARIQ WOOLEN &
VIKINGS P RYAN WRIGHT NAMED NFC PLAYERS OF WEEK 6
Quarterback MARCUS MARIOTA of the Atlanta Falcons, cornerback TARIQ WOOLEN of the Seattle Seahawks and punter RYAN WRIGHT of the Minnesota Vikings are the NFC Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week for games played in Week 6 (October 13, 16-17).
OFFENSE: QB MARCUS MARIOTA, ATLANTA FALCONS
- Mariota completed 13 of 14 pass attempts (92.9 percent), totaled 179 yards (129 passing, 50 rushing) and had three touchdowns (two passing, one rushing) with a 144.6 passer rating in the Falcons’ Week 6 win. He led all quarterbacks in completion percentage and passer rating and was the only NFC quarterback to record three total touchdowns in Week 6.
- Mariota is the third player in NFL history to record at least two touchdown passes, one rushing touchdown and a completion percentage of 90-or-higher (minimum 10 attempts) in a single game, joining Ryan Fitzpatrick (September 24, 2020) and Frank Ryan (December 12, 1964).
- This marks the fifth-career Offensive Player of the Week award for Mariota and first with Atlanta:

- 2016 (with Tennessee): Week 10
- 2018 (with Tennessee): Week 4
- 2022 (with Atlanta): Week 6
- Mariota is the second Atlanta Falcon to win the award this season, joining running back Cordarrelle Patterson (Week 3) and his five-career Offensive Player of the Week awards are the most-ever by a player from the University of Oregon.
DEFENSE: CB TARIQ WOOLEN, SEATTLE SEAHAWKS
- Woolen recorded five tackles, one interception and one fumble recovery in the Seahawks’ Week 6 victory. He is the first rookie since 1970 to record both an interception and opponent fumble recovery in consecutive games.
- This is Woolen’s first-career Defensive Player of the Week award and he joins Uchenna Nwosu (Week 1) as Seahawks players to win the award this season.
- Woolen is the fourth Seattle rookie to win Defensive Player of the Week honors, joining safety Michael Boulware (Week 11, 2004), linebacker Brian Bosworth (Week 15, 1987) and safety Ken Hamlin (Week 2, 2003).
SPECIAL TEAMS: P RYAN WRIGHT, MINNESOTA VIKINGS
- Wright averaged 44.1 yards over 10 punts (43.9 net yards) and placed six inside the 20-yard line with a long of 73 yards in the Vikings’ Week 6 win. He had the longest punt and the most punts placed inside the 20-yard line among all punters in Week 6.
- Wright is the third rookie to earn Special Teams Player of the Week honors during the 2022 season, joining Cleveland’s Cade York (Week 1) and Philadelphia’s Cameron Dicker (Week 5).
- Wright is the first-ever Vikings rookie punter to win the award and the third player from Tulane to earn Special Teams Player of the Week honors, joining kickers Eddie Murray (Week 15, 1993 and Week 6, 1997) and Cairo Santos (Week 6, 2020).
