Miami-Dade County District 7 Commissioner Raquel A. Regalado led a ribbon cutting event for the new nature-based playground at Sabal Chase Park, located at 10940 SW 113 Place in Miami.
The playground is designed to encourage children to spend more time outside and develop an appreciation of nature through play. The 4,510-square-foot area contains inclusive playground equipment, surrounded by play mounds and nature play elements such as Australian pines logs which will provide added play/seating experiences. The playground equipment features climbing nets, a double tower, spring riders, swings, a play and learn panel, and musical instruments to play. The site contains concrete curbing, walkways, benches, and bike racks.
The playground equipment rests on an engineered wood-fiber play surface that blends into the natural landscape. The landscaping includes five new oak trees, sod, and native pollinator-attracting plants.
These park enhancements advance the implementation of the Miami-Dade County Parks and Open Space Master Plan, a community-inspired vision to create a seamless, sustainable system of parks, recreation and open spaces for this and future generations.
