MOTOR CITY CRUISE FALL TO LONG ISLAND NETS

LONG ISLAND – The Motor City Cruise were looking to build off their win over Grand Rapids on March 2. The Long Island Nets planned to extend their winning streak up to 15 games, which they would. The Nets won today’s game with a final score of 114-102.

Despite shooting 1-12 from beyond the arc, the Cruise only trailed by two points to end the first quarter. The Long Island Nets led 21-19 to begin today’s game. The Long Island Nets went on an 8-0 run late in the second to end the first half with a 46-43 lead. Stanley Umude led the Cruise with 14 points, as Jordan Bowden led the Nets with 12 to end the first half.

In the middle of the third quarter, the Cruise went on a 9-0 run to take a 56-50 lead with 7:58 to go in the quarter. However, the Nets broke away with a 12-3 run to end the third. Then, the Nets never trailed in the fourth quarter to take the win. David Duke Jr. would score 15 points in the fourth quarter alone.

David Duke Jr. led the Nets to victory after dropping 29 points in today’s game. Duke shot 8-13 from the floor. Jordan Bowden followed up with 20 points. He shot 8-11 from the floor (4-6 beyond the arc). Lastly, Kavion Pippen secured a double-double after scoring 12 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.

For Motor City, Stanley Umude led the way with 23 points. He shot 7-15 from the floor. Jaylen Johnson followed up with 14 points. Lastly for the Cruise, Reggie Perry scored 13 points in his Motor City debut.

            The Motor City Cruise fell to 12-14 and Long Island Nets improved to 21-3. The Cruise will travel to Fort Wayne to take on the Mad Ants for the first time in the regular season. Tip-off is slated for 11:00am EST on March 9. The game can be seen at https://gleague.nba.com/.
