DETROIT – The Motor City Cruise have acquired returning players rights to Deyonta Davis from the Santa Cruz Warriors in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2022-23 G League Draft.
Davis, 6-10, 240, is a former second-round pick of the Boston Celtics and made his NBA debut in 2016 with the Memphis Grizzlies. During his NBA career, Davis has appeared in 107 games with the Grizzlies and Atlanta Hawks. Davis has posted NBA averages of 4.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, 0.4 assists and 12.1 minutes per game. Davis has also spent time in the G League, appearing in 98 games over a span of four years with the Iowa Wolves, Memphis Hustle, and the Santa Cruz Warriors. He has posted averages of 10.7 points, 7.8 rebounds, 0.9 assists, and 24.5 minutes per game.
Davis was a highly touted recruit out of Muskegon High School in Muskegon, MI. During his senior year in 2015, Davis was a McDonald’s All-American, Gatorade Michigan Player of the Year, and the Hal Schram Michigan Mr. Basketball Award winner. Davis spent one season at Michigan State, where he appeared in 35 games and posted averages of 7.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 0.7 assists, in 18.6 minutes per game.
