MOTOR CITY CRUISE ACQUIRE FREE AGENT GUARD RJ NEMBHARD JR.

Team Waives Forward Tom Digbeu

          DETROIT, MI – The Motor City Cruise announced today that the club has acquired free agent guard RJ Nembhard Jr. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

The Keller, Texas native played college basketball at Texas Christian University. During his senior year at TCU, Nembhard was named an All-Big 12 Third Team performer, had a streak of 22-straight games with at least one 3-pointer and connected on multiple threes in a game nine times. He finished second in the Big 12 with 34.9 minutes per game. In 24 starts, he averaged 15.7 points (sixth- best in the Big 12), 4.0 assists and 4.3 rebounds.

Undrafted in the NBA, Nembhard played for the Miami Heat during the 2021 NBA Summer League. He signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers (9/27/21) and had his deal converted to a two-way contract with the Cleveland Charge of the NBA G-League. During the 2021-22 season with the Charge, Nembhard averaged 21.9 points, 5.5 assists, and 8.2 rebounds. He participated in 25 games (24 starts) with the Charge and played 14 games with the Cleveland Cavaliers that season.

In a related move, the club waived Tom Digbeu who was drafted by the Cruise with the 28th selection in the first round of the 2022-23 NBA G League Draft.
