Michigan Football Information vs. Penn State


• The Wolverines who call the state of Pennsylvania home are three in number: guard Kraig Correll (Easton), linebacker Nikhai Hill-Green (Pittsburgh), and defensive lineman Donovan Jeter (Beaver Falls).

• Michigan has scored 70 percent (326) of the 470 total points scored by U-M and its opponents in nine games. That is tied for the second-highest share of the total points scored in the country with Coastal Carolina (Georgia, 84 percent).

• U-M is among the top 20 in the country in both scoring offense and scoring defense this season, listing 20th in offense (36.2 points per game) and sixth in defense (16.0 points allowed per game).

• Michigan has registered 45 plays on offense of 20-plus yards (25 receiving, 20 rushing). The unit has produced nine touchdowns of 50-plus yards and has scored in 31 of 36 quarters of play.

• The rushing duo of Blake Corum and Hassan Haskins continue to pace the offensive attack that has a run game ranked No. 7 in the country (234.1 yards per game). Each has four 100-yard rushing performances with Haskins reaching 100 yards in three of the last four games.

• Haskins had a career day last weekend, matching his career high in carries (27) and setting a new best with 165 rushing yards and 185 total yards. According to Pro Football Focus’ metrics, Haskins is the highest-graded running back (91.0) in the FBS.

• The offensive line continues to shut down opposing pass rushers and limit negative plays. The unit leads the Big Ten in tackles for loss (2.00) and sacks (0.67) allowed per game and ranks tied-first and third in the NCAA, respectively, in those categories.

• The defense ranks top-10 nationally in six categories: pass efficiency rating (10th), first downs allowed (ninth), pass defense (eighth), total defense, and scoring defense (sixth). The unit is also 30th against the run and 17th in third down conversion percentage allowed.

• The edge duo of Aidan Hutchinson (7.0 sacks) and David Ojabo (8.0 sacks) are 1-2 for the Big Ten lead in sacks and both are top-20 nationally. Last weekend against Indiana, the defense’s pass rush efforts created pressure on 13 of 28 dropbacks.

• Ojabo leads the Big Ten and ties for third in the country with four forced fumbles, which matches the single-season record at Michigan. Defensive lineman Christopher Hinton has been on the recovering end of two of those fumbles, ranking eighth nationally.

• U-M has at least one turnover forced in eight consecutive games with multiple turnovers in four games total. Ten (10) different players have at least one interception or fumble recovery on defense.

• Twenty (20) different players have at least one pass breakup (47). That is the highest number of individual contributors to the team PBU total in the past 25 years.

• Kicker Jake Moody averages 10.7 points per game, making him the No. 3 scorer in the country and the only kicker in the top five. He has converted on 16 of his last 17 attempts with 96 total points on the season.

• Punter Brad Robbins continues to be a weapon in the field position game. Robbins has yielded just 21 return yards on 28 punts, averaging 44.8 yards per attempt with 13 punts inside the opponent’s 20-yard line and only one touchback. More than half his attempts (16) have forced fair catches.

• The duo’s success has led to excellence in special teams, including the nation’s No. 2 kick return defense (12.62-yard average) and No. 6 net punt coverage unit (43.29-yard net average).
