Miami Marlins Roster Transaction – Sunday, April 11

The Miami Marlins have made the following roster transactions ahead of today’s game against the Mets:

  • LHP Daniel Castano recalled from the Alternate Training Site.
  • OF Lewis Brinson optioned to the Alternate Training Site.

More information on Castano:

  • Daniel Castano has made seven career starts and eight career appearances.
  • Earned his first big league win in the only relief appearance of his career on Sept. 27 at Yankee Stadium. He worked 6.1 scoreless innings and allowed four hits and a pair of walks and struck out two in a 5-0 Marlins win.
  • Made his Major League debut on Aug. 8, 2020 at Citi Field, suffering the loss after allowing a career high five runs (four earned) in 4.1 innings of work in an 8-4 Marlins defeat. Surrendered a pair of home runs, one each to Pete Alonso and Michael Conforto.
  • Also made the start in Queens on Aug. 25 in Game 1 of a DH (following Trevor Rogers’ MLB debut). Tossed 4.2 scoreless but did not draw a decision as the Marlins held the Mets scoreless over both contests.
  • A 19th round selection in 2016 draft by the Cardinals, Castano was acquried by the Marlins from St. Louis on Dec. 14, 2017 along with current Marlins Sandy Alcantara and Magneuris Sierra and Zac Gallen in exchange for Marcell Ozuna.
