Miami Marlins Acquire C Payton Henry From Milwaukee Brewers

MIAMI – The Miami Marlins today acquired C Payton Henry from the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for RHP John Curtiss.

Henry, 24, has played in 49 games this season between Double-A Biloxi and Triple-A Nashville, combining to hit .297 with two home runs and 19 RBI. He spent most of the 2020 season at Milwaukee’s Alternate Training Site. A native of American Fork, Utah, Henry is the Brewers No. 19 prospect according to MLB Pipeline.

In five Minor League seasons, Henry is a .248 career hitter with 33 home runs and 185 RBI. He was the 2018 MiLB Gold Glove Award winner in 2018 and a Midseason All-Star in the Midwest League in 2018 and Carolina League in 2019. He ranked third in RBI (75) and tied for fourth in home runs (14) in 2019 with Carolina.

Henry was selected in the sixth round (171 overall) of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft from Pleasant Grove High School (UT).
