POSTGAME NOTES
DOLPHINS BEAT TEXANS , PICK OFF THR EE PA SSES
• Miami defeated Houston 17-9 this afternoon. It’s Miami’s second win all-time against Houston. The team’s only other
win against the Texans came in 2015.
• This marks Miami’s sixth victory in its past 10 home games.
• Brian Flores is now 7-3 all-time as a head coach in games played in November.
• The Dolphins intercepted Houston QB Tyrod Taylor three times. It was the first time the Dolphins have picked off an
opposing quarterback three times since doing so against Kansas City QB Patrick Mahomes on Dec. 13, 2020.
• Miami was penalized just two times for 13 yards today. The team’s 13 penalty yards are its fewest since Nov. 11,
2018 at Green Bay (10).
o Since Flores became head coach in 2019, the Dolphins are fourth in the NFL in fewest penalties per game
(5.4) and second in fewest penalty yards per game (44.4).
DEFENSE POSTS FIVE SACKS AND FOUR TAKEAWAYS
• The Dolphins defense did not allow a touchdown in today’s win, limiting Houston to just three field goals and nine
points. It was the fewest points allowed by the Dolphins since Dec. 6, 2020 in a 19-7 win vs. Cincinnati and the
fewest Houston has scored in the all-time series with Miami.
• Miami allowed just 4.1 yards per play to the Texans today, the team’s lowest yards per play allowed since the Dec. 6,
2020 game against Cincinnati (3.9).
• Miami’s five sacks were the team’s most since they had six on Dec. 6, 2020 vs. Cincinnati.
o DE Emmanuel Ogbah became the second Dolphins player to have at least two sacks in a game this season,
joining S Brandon Jones, who had two at Las Vegas on Sept. 26, 2021.
o Ogbah’s 2.5 sacks were the most by a Dolphins player since LB Jerome Baker had 2.5 sacks vs. Kansas City
on Dec. 13, 2020.
o The 2.5 sacks are Ogbah’s career high and he surpassed 30 career sacks today.
• In addition to interceptions by S Jevon Holland, LB Jerome Baker and CB Justin Coleman, the Dolphins also
recovered a fumble forced by S Eric Rowe that was pounced on by S Brandon Jones.
o Miami’s four takeaways were its most since Dec. 13, 2020 vs. Kansas City.
o Miami had a takeaway in each of the four quarters of the game today.
• At the end of today’s 1 p.m. games, the Dolphins are tied for 10th in the NFL with 13 takeaways and are fourth in the
NFL with seven opponent fumble recoveries.
• The Dolphins also had nine quarterback hits and eight passes defensed today, bringing their totals to 67 and 48
respectively this season.
DOLPHINS CONTINUE TO SCORE IN FIRST QUARTER
• Miami scored another first-quarter touchdown today after RB Myles Gaskin received a direct snap and ran six yards
for a touchdown with 4:37 left in the opening frame.
• It capped off a 12-play, 80-yard drive by the Dolphins that took 6:03 off the clock.
• The Dolphins have outscored opponents 55-29 in the first quarter this season. The +26 point differential is tied for
third in the NFL at the end of today’s 1 p.m. games.
• Miami is averaging 6.1 points in the first quarter of games this season, which ranks sixth in the NFL at the end of
today’s 1 p.m. games.
• The Dolphins started the possession after S Jevon Holland intercepted a pass from Houston QB Tyrod Taylor in the
end zone.
o It was the first interception of Holland’s career.
o Pressure was created by S Brandon Jones, who knocked Taylor to the ground. It was the sixth QB hit of the
season for Jones, tying him for fourth on the team.
GESICKI AND WADDLE LEA D DOLPHINS IN RECEIVING AGAIN
• WR Jaylen Waddle led Miami with eight receptions and 83 receiving yards (10.4 avg.) today.
• His 56 receptions are fourth in Dolphins history among rookies despite still having eight games remaining:

• TE Mike Gesicki was the team’s second leading receiver today with 54 yards on four receptions (13.5 avg.),
including two one-handed grabs.
o He surpassed 2,000 career receiving yards and now has 2,004 in his career.
• At the end of today’s 1 p.m. games, Gesicki is third among NFL tight ends in receptions (44) and fourth in receiving
yards (529):

    HOLLINS CATCHES HIS SECOND TD OF THE YEAR
    • QB Jacoby Brissett found WR Mack Hollins for a 5-yard touchdown pass on third-and-goal with 29 seconds left in
    the first half. It gave Miami a 17-6 lead.
    • The touchdown reception was the second of the season for Hollins, who also caught a touchdown vs. Atlanta on Oct.
    24.
    • Hollins has four touchdown receptions in his career and this is the first time he’s caught multiple touchdowns in the
    same season.
    • Miami started the drive at the 26-yard line after LB Jerome Baker intercepted Houston QB Tyrod Taylor with 53
    seconds left in the second quarter.
    o It was the third interception of Baker’s career and his first since Dec. 15, 2019 at N.Y. Giants.
