DOLPHINS WIN THIRD STRAIGHT, BEAT BEARS 3 5 – 3 2
• The Miami Dolphins are 6-3 this season, which matches the 2020 campaign as their best nine-game start since 2001.
• Head Coach Mike McDaniel joins Dave Wannstedt as the only head coaches in team history to win at least six of their first nine games. Wannstedt went 7-2 in his first nine games in 2000.
• The Dolphins are now 5-3 in their past eight road games.
• This is Miami’s fifth all-time win at Soldier Field. The team’s only loss there was on Sept. 4, 1988.
• The Dolphins are now 32-12 (72.7 pct.) on Daylight Savings Sunday, according to FOX, which is the best record in the NFL on that day.
• Miami is now 10-4 all-time against Chicago and has won each of the past three meetings.
HILL AND WADDLE BREAK MORE RECEIVING RECORDS
• WR Tyreek Hill (143 yards) and WR Jaylen Waddle (85 yards) once again paced the Dolphins in receiving. The duo has totaled 1,916 receiving yards in Miami’s first nine games, which is the most in the Super Bowl era and the second-most in NFL history:

    • The duo becomes the sixth pair of teammates in NFL history to each have more than 800 receiving yards in the team’s first nine games of a season.

    • Hill’s 143 receiving yards today give him 1,104 for the season. It’s the most by an NFL player in his team’s first nine games of a season in the Super Bowl era, surpassing the previous record of 1,073 yards by Hall of Famer Isaac Bruce in 1995 for St. Louis.

    • Hill’s 1,000 yards receiving marks the 23rd time a Dolphins player has topped 1,000 receiving yards in a season.
    o It’s the fifth 1,000-yard season for Hill in his career.
    o The 1,104 receiving yards by Hill are 12th-best in single-season Dolphins history and the most since WR DeVante Parker had 1,202 in 2019.
    o Hill needs 286 more receiving yards to break the Dolphins single-season record of 1,389 set by WR Mark Clayton in 1984.
    • It was the fifth 100-yard game of the season for Hill and the first time he’s had back-to-back 100-yard games this year.
    o His five games of 100+ yards is tied for the fourth-most such games in a season in team history. The last Dolphins player to have at least five 100-yard games in the same season was WR Brandon Marshall in 2011.
    • Hill’s seven receptions today give him 76 on the season. That mark is tied for 12th in single-season Dolphins history.
    o Hill has now recorded at least seven receptions in six consecutive games and in eight of the nine games he’s played this season.
    o Hill’s 76 receptions lead the NFL at the end of today’s afternoon games.
    • Hill surpassed Mike Evans for the third-most receiving yards in the NFL since 2016. He now has 7,734 career receiving yards, trailing only Davante Adams (7,850) and Travis Kelce (7,822).
    • Today was the 100th career regular-season game played by Hill in his career.
    • Waddle topped 85 receiving yards for the fourth consecutive game.
    • With an 18-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter, Waddle has now posted eight touchdowns in his past 12 games.
    o It was his sixth touchdown reception of the season, which is one shy of the seven he had as a rookie in 2021.
    • Waddle’s 17.3 yards per catch average is third in the NFL at the end of today’s afternoon games.
    TAGOVAILOA PASSES FOR THREE TOUCHDOWNS AND POSTS 135.7 RATING
    • QB Tua Tagovailoa completed 21-of-30 passes (70.0 pct.) for 302 yards, three touchdowns, no interceptions and a 135.7 rating today.
    o The 135.7 passer rating was the second-best of his career after he posted a 138.7 rating at Detroit last week. He’s posted the two highest ratings of his career in the past two weeks.
    o It’s the first time in Tagovailoa’s career he has passed for 300+ yards in back-to-back games.
    • QB Tua Tagovailoa is now 12-2 in his last 14 starts and 13-1 in the last 14 games he’s finished.
    • It’s just the 13th time in franchise history a quarterback has passed for 300+ yards and 3+ touchdowns with no interceptions. Tagovailoa becomes the first Dolphins quarterback to do this in consecutive games after he also accomplished the feat last week at Detroit.
    • Tagovailoa was 6-of-7 (85.7 pct.) for 109 yards and one touchdown on third downs today, improving his third-down passer rating this season to 147.0. It’s the best third-down passer rating in the NFL since stats by down began being tracked in 1991.
    • Tagovailoa’s career passer rating improved to 95.3, which is now the best in Dolphins history. He surpassed QB Chad Pennington who had a 94.5 passer rating from 2008-10.

    • Tagovailoa had 302 yards on 30 pass attempts, good for a 10.07 yards per attempt average. It marks the first time in his career he’s averaged 10+ yards per attempt in back-to-back games after he had 10.61 yards per attempt last week at Detroit.
    • With three touchdown passes, Tagovailoa now has 42 in his career, surpassing QB Don Strock (39) for fifth-most in team history.
    • Since returning from injury in Week 7 vs. Pittsburgh, Tagovailoa has posted three straight games with a 90+ rating and no interceptions.
    • Tagovailoa has played in four road games this season. In those contests, he has completed 94-of-130 passes (72.3 pct.) for 1,263 yards, 12 touchdowns and three interceptions. He has a 124.0 passer rating on the road this year.
    • In the first half today, Tagovailoa completed 11-of-13 passes (84.6 pct.) for 162 yards and one touchdown. He had a 144.2 passer rating.
    PHILLIPS BLOCKS A PUNT THAT VAN GINKEL RETURNS FOR TD
    • The Dolphins got a huge special teams play in the second quarter when LB Jaelan Phillips blocked a Chicago punt that was recovered by LB Andrew Van Ginkel and returned 25 yards for a touchdown.
    • The 25-yard return was the longest blocked punt returned for a touchdown in Dolphins history, eclipsing the previous high of 19 yards by Mark Higgs on Oct. 18, 1990 vs. New England.

    • It’s the second touchdown of Van Ginkel’s career as he returned a fumble 78 yards for a touchdown on Nov. 1, 2020 vs. the L.A. Rams.
    o Van Ginkel also blocked a punt himself two weeks later on Nov. 15, 2020 vs. the L.A. Chargers.
    • The blocked punt was the first of Phillips’ career.
    • Miami is the only team in the NFL to block a punt in each of the past three seasons (2020-22).
    • This was the fourth blocked punt in the NFL this season, although New England blocked a punt vs. Indianapolis later today.
    WILSON TOTALS 72 SCRIMMAGE YARDS AND TD IN DEBUT
    • The Dolphins traded for RB Jeff Wilson Jr. from San Francisco on Tuesday and just a few days later, he scored a touchdown in his Dolphins debut.
    • Wilson caught a pass from QB Tua Tagovailoa in the third quarter and stretched for the goal line, resulting in a 10-yard touchdown reception.
    o It was Wilson’s first touchdown reception since Jan. 3, 2021 vs. Seattle when he played for the 49ers.
    • Wilson led Miami in rushing today with 51 yards on nine carries (5.7 avg.). He had a 28-yard carry in the third quarter that was Miami’s longest rushing play of the season.
    • He also added 21 yards receiving on three receptions (7.0 avg.), including the touchdown.

• The Dolphins held Chicago to just 22 passing yards in the second half. Miami has held opponents under 75 yards passing in the second half in four of the past five games.
• CB Justin Bethel recorded the 139th special teams tackle of his career. It’s second-most among active NFL players behind New England’s Matthew Slater.
• CB Kader Kohou had a career-high eight tackles today. He leads all undrafted rookies in the league this season with 35 total tackles.
