Men’s Soccer: Charleston 3, Lynn University 1

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Lynn University’s men’s soccer team fell in the Division II National Semifinal on Thursday evening to Charleston (WV) 3-1 at Highmark Stadium.

STATS OF THE GAME:

·      Lukas Ostermann put Lynn in front in the 19th minute with a rocket shot into the top right corner on an assist from Alexandre Horveno.

·      Charleston scored two goals in a four-minute span to take a commanding 2-1 lead into the locker room.

·      The Golden Eagles’ goalkeeper Alvaro Dean made eight total saves, six in the first 45 minutes.

·      Both teams were even in shots (12-12) and corners (5-5).

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

·      Ostermann’s goal was his 10th of the season.

·      Horveno picked up his 14th assist, ending the season seventh all-time for Lynn in that category.

·      Lynn’s 16 wins are its most since 2014 when it went 19-1-1 on its way to the National Title.

·      Head coach John Rootes made his fifth Final Four appearance.
