Men’s Basketball | Owls Ranked No. 22 in the AP Top 25

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic’s men’s basketball team (15-4, 4-1 AAC), has moved up in the Associated Press’ Top 25. The Owls are now ranked No. 22 in the nation according to the newest AP poll released on Monday afternoon.

This marks the 13th consecutive week in which FAU is ranked in the AP Top 25, the 10th longest streak in the nation.

The Owls have won four straight games, averaging 92.3 points per game during the span. Over the past week, they picked up two key AAC victories, a home win over Wichita State by a score of 86-77 followed by an overtime victory against UTSA on the road, 112-103. The 112 points is tied for the second most points ever recorded by Florida Atlantic in one game.

Junior guards Johnell Davis and Alijah Martin were an unstoppable duo on offense, combining for 101 points on 59% shooting in the last two games. Davis followed up a 19-point performance against Wichita State with 34 against UTSA, his third 30+ point performance of the season. Martin dropped a team-high 22 against the Shockers and scored 26 against the Roadrunners, including nine in overtime to seal the victory.

UP NEXT

The now No. 22 Owls will be on the road on Wednesday, Jan. 24 against Rice, tipping off at 8 p.m. EST. They will return home to the Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena on Sunday, Jan. 27 to take on North Texas at 1 p.m. EST.
