FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The road to Evansville, Indiana, and the NCAA Division II Elite Eight will once again run through the Rick Case Arena as the top-ranked Nova Southeastern Sharks Men’s Basketball team will host the NCAA South Region Tournament for the third consecutive season. NSU, the reigning NCAA Division II National Champions, have won each of the last two NCAA South Region titles. Over the past three seasons, Nova Southeastern Men’s Basketball has taken “home court advantage” to a new-level; since February 2020, the Sharks have won 61 consecutive home games.
No. 1 Nova Southeastern won the program’s third consecutive Sunshine State Conference Tournament title on Sunday afternoon, defeating the Barry Buccaneers 87-76 for the Sharks’ 15th straight win.
The NCAA South Region Tournament features three Sunshine State Conference teams, three Gulf South Conference teams, and two Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference programs. Joining Nova Southeastern at the Rick Case Arena will be No. 18 West Georgia (#2 Seed), Florida Southern (#3 Seed), Alabama-Huntsville (#4 Seed), Embry-Riddle (#5 Seed), Clark Atlanta (#6 Seed), Lee (#7 Seed), and Benedict (#8 Seed).
Five of the eight teams in the 2024 NCAA South Region Tournament – Nova Southeastern, Alabama-Huntsville, Lee, West Georgia, and Embry-Riddle – participated in the 2023 NCAA South Region Tournament.
The NCAA South Region Tournament will be held at the Rick Case Arena beginning on Saturday, March 16th. The schedule of games will be announced on Monday, March 11th.
