Green earned the honor for both September and October.
TAMPA, FLA., November 2, 2023 -Senior Melanie Green, who led the University of South Florida to a second-place finish at the Dale McNamara Invitational and a third-place finish at the Hurricane Invitational, has been named the American Athletic Conference’s Women’s Golfer of the Month for October.
Green also earned conference golfer of the month honors for September. She led South Florida to top-four finishes in all four Fall events. Green finished in the top four individually in all four of the Bulls’ Fall tournaments.
This Fall, she picked up where she left off after a record-breaking season in 2022-23 in which she was named a WGCA All-American honorable mention. A three-time AAC All-Conference Team member, Green owns multiple program records, including season scoring average (71.03), low round relative to par (-8) and career scoring average (72.13 entering the 2023-24 season).
Individually in October, she posted two top-five finishes. She finished third in the Dale McNamara Invitational and second in the Hurricane Invitational. In the two tournaments, she was a combined 18 under par. All six of her tournament rounds were at par or better, including four rounds under par.
In the Dale McNamara Invitational Green finished third at 208 (-8). She set a new program record in the second round with a score of -8. She shot 64, which is her career low and ties a program record. The 64 was also the low round of the tournament. Her 36-hole total of 136 through the first two rounds tied for second-place all-time in USF program history. Green tied for the tournament lead with 15 birdies and was second in the field in par-five scoring at -6.
At the Hurricane Invitational Green posted her second runner-up finish of the Fall, carding a 206 (-10). Green was under par in all three rounds, opening with a 70 in the first round, followed by a 67 in the second and a closing round 69. She tied for the tournament lead in par three scoring at -3 and was tied for second with 16 birdies.

Green will return to the course with the Bulls in the first event of the Spring season, the FAU Paradise Invitational Feb. 5-6 at Osprey Point Golf Course in Boca Raton, Fla.

The 2023-24 campaign will be the Bulls’ sixth full season under head coach Erika Brennan. South Florida is among the fastest-rising programs in the country, as they climbed 75 spots in the national Golfstat rankings following Brennan’s first season in 2018-19 and have captured four tournament titles under Brennan, while setting numerous program scoring records under her leadership. Senior standout Melanie Green has been an all-conference performer in each of her first three seasons, qualified for the 2022 NCAA Regional as an individual and was named a 2023 All-American Honorable Mention. Green and the Bulls reached the NCAA Regional as a team in 2023, marking the program’s first postseason appearance in 11 years.
