Melanie Green Named AAC Women’s Golfer of the Month

Green posted two top five finishes in September. 

TAMPA, FLA., October 4, 2023 -Senior Melanie Green, who has led the University of South Florida to a win in the Badger Invitational and a fourth-place finish in the Glass City Invitational, has been named the American Athletic Conference’s Women’s Golfer of the Month for September. 

Green, a senior, is coming off a record-breaking season in 2022-23 in which she was named a WGCA All-American honorable mention. A three-time AAC All-Conference Team member, Green owns multiple program records, including season scoring average (71.03) and career scoring average (72.13).  

Individually, she has posted two top-five finishes in USF’s first two tournaments of the season. Green finished tied for second in the Glass City Invitational and tied for fourth in the Badger Invitational. Green is a combined eight-under-par in tournament play and has carded rounds of par or better in four of six competitive rounds. 

In the Badger Invitational, Green shot 68 (-4) the final round, moving up five spots on the leaderboard to tie for fourth individually at 212 (-4). She led the field in par 4 scoring at -3 and was fourth with 11 total birdies. 

At the Glass City Invitational, Green shot under par in two of the three rounds. She led the field in par 5 scoring at -7 and finished tied for second with 13 birdies.

Green will lead the Bulls into action in the second-to-last fall event on October 9-10 at the Dale McNamara Invitational in Tulsa, Okla. 

About USF Women’s Golf 

The 2023-24 campaign will be the Bulls’ sixth full season under head coach Erika Brennan. South Florida is among the fastest-rising programs in the country, as they climbed 75 spots in the national Golfstat rankings following Brennan’s first season in 2018-19 and have captured four tournament titles under Brennan, while setting numerous program scoring records under her leadership. Senior standout Melanie Green has been an all-conference performer in each of her first three seasons, qualified for the 2022 NCAA Regional as an individual and was named a 2023 All-American Honorable Mention. Green and the Bulls reached the NCAA Regional as a team in 2023, marking the program’s first postseason appearance in 11 years.
