MBB | Owls Defeated by No. 21 Memphis

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic men’s basketball team fell to No. 21 Memphis on Thursday evening at the Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena by a score of 90-62.

With the loss, the Owls move to 7-7 on the season and 0-1 in American Athletic Conference play.

FIRST HALF

The Owls were active on defense, forcing 10 turnovers that led to 14 points on the other end. Redshirt senior guard Ken Evans Jr. had three steals in an active half that saw him score seven straight points for the team.

While FAU trailed early in the half, a 7-0 run cut the deficit to five. The Tigers ultimately built the lead back up to double digits for a 42-32 advantage at halftime.

SECOND HALF

Muscling his way inside, freshman center Matas Vokietaitis recorded back-to-back three-point plays to put the game back within single digits.

A balanced scoring act saw seven different Owls record a field goal in the final 20 minutes.
