Melbourne, Fla. – Lynn University women’s golfer Helen Kreuzer has been named the Sunshine State Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday. Kreuzer earned her second SSC weekly accolade with a career day on the links, claiming first place at the UIndy Fall Invitational while breaking records in the process.
The Bensheim, Germany, native started slowly with a one-over par 73 but heated up in the second round by shooting a school and tournament record seven-under par 65. Her round also set a new competitive course record for women at the Prairie View Golf Club and tied the overall competitive course record.
Kreuzer’s final round 69 capped off a historic 54-holes of golf as she concluded play with a nine-under par 207, breaking Lynn’s previous record by three strokes and setting a new tournament record as well. She was the only golfer in the 85-player field to shoot under par, winning the event by 10 shots.
The victory was the first of the year and fourth of her career, giving her sole possession of second place in program history as she trails Jessica Bradley by three wins. Kreuzer also becomes the first golfer at Lynn to have three career rounds of 68 or better, severing a tie with Bradley. The senior golfer now owns school records for 18- (65), 36- (138) and 54-hole (207) scores.
