Lynn Women’s Swimming Enters CSCAA Top-25

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn University’s women’s swimming team earned the first College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA)/TYR Top-25 preseason national ranking in program history, as announced on Wednesday.  The Fighting Knights will start the year ranked No. 19 in the nation.

Lynn is one of four schools from the Sunshine State Conference to garner Top-25 recognition.  Nova Southeastern comes in at No. 4 with Tampa sixth and Florida Tech No. 18 overall.  Florida Southern is one of six schools to receive votes.

With one of its deepest rosters, the Fighting Knights have a bevy of talent for the 2019-20 season.  Leading the pack is two-time backstroke All-American Karolina Smylek.  She became the first to earn First Team All-America accolades in the 200 backstroke and first to medal in the 100 backstroke and the first to earn medals for both the 100 & 200 back at the Sunshine State Conference Championship.

Samar Khacha and Clara Monges will also be counted on heavily this year following a season in which they both qualified for the NCAA National Championship.  Khacha participated in the 400 individual medley while Monges was a member of the first relay team (400 medley) to qualify for the national championship.

The Fighting Knights started the year with a fourth place finish at the 2019 Shark Invitational and host the first of their six meets in 2019-20 on Friday, Oct 25, in a dual meet against NSU.
