Lynn Women’s Soccer Downed in Overtime at No. 23 Rollins

WINTER PARK, Fla. – Ariella Kaplan scored the equalizer for Lynn University’s women’s soccer team 30 seconds into the final half, but No. 24 Rollins managed an overtime winner to down the Blue and White 2-1 on Saturday evening.

STATS OF THE GAME:·       Tar attacker Sarah Buckley scored to put Rollins ahead just before the halftime whistle.·       A bouncing ball in the box came to Kaplan and she fired home off the post to even the match at 1-all.·       Saige Griffin and Bianca Christ each picked up an assist on Kaplan’s tally.·       The Fighting Knights continued to create chances as the second half progressed, into overtime, but a hard right-footed shot by Rollins’ Kathryn O’Brien five minutes into extra time snuck by Blue and White keeper Devan Malcolm to give Rollins the win. ·       Lynn had 15 shots and 10 on goal while the Tars managed 19 shots, but just six on target.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:·       Rollins’ goal came with just eight seconds remaining in the first half and both regulation goals were scored in a span of 38 seconds.·       Kaplan totaled a match-high four shots on goal.·       Christ’s assist is the first of her career.
