Women’s Cross Country/Track
BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn University’s women’s cross country and track programs announced its incoming recruiting class for the 2019-20 season on Tuesday afternoon, welcoming a cohort of six new Blue and White student-athletes.
Donya Dreibelbis
Freshman
Jacksonville Beach, Fla. / Fletcher HS
Dreibelbis posted top times of 2:30 in the 800 and 5:45 in the 1600 during her prep career.
From the Coaches: “Donya will add depth to cross country in the fall and be a contributor in the mid-distance group. She’s a very hard worker and will improve quickly. She’s only been running full time for a little over a year!”
Payton Yoder
Freshman
Naples, Fla. / Barron Collier HS
Yoder will join her sister, Chase, for the Fighting Knights, racking up solid distance times of 2:30 in the 800, 5:00 in the 1500m and 10:58 in the 3k. She was the captain of her cross country team her senior season and an honor roll member.
From the Coaches: “Payton is a very experienced freshman runner. She’s ran in some pretty big meets. She will contribute immediately to our cross country program.”
Hanna Bruckmayer
Freshman
Altotting, Bavaria, Germany / Konig-Karlmann Gymnasium
Bruckmayer comes in as a freshman with an impressive resume, notching career-bests of 2:20 in the 800, 10:23 in the 8k and 18:32 in the 5k.
From the Coaches: “Hanna will help solidify the front end of our top five for cross county and give us a national level 1/2 punch (working with Emmanuelle Le Tertre). Hanna will be a force to be reckoned with this fall and will be a leader in the 3k steeplechase for track.”
Rory Young
Freshman
St. Johnsbury, Vt. / St. Johnsbury Academy
Young makes her way down the coast after a strong prep career in Vermont, posting times of 2:35 in the 800, 5:25 in the 1500, 12:00 in the 3k and 20:53 in the 5k. She was a member of a indoor and outdoor state championship team and competed in region-wide cross country events across New England.
From the Coaches: “Coming from some of the most difficult cross country running in the country, we’re expecting some big things from Rory. She will contribute to the top 10 in cross country as a freshman and we will work on her strength as a 5k runner in the spring.”
Kanija Badie
Freshman
St. Augustine, Fla. / St. Augustine HS
Badie specializes in the short distances, posting a strong time of 49 seconds flat in the 300 meter hurdles.
From the Coaches: “Kanija is bringing speed and a hurdle background to our program. She will work alongside Maddie Wells to drive the sprints and heptathlon aspect of the team in the spring.”
Abby Kinchen
Freshman
St. Augustine, Fla. / Bartram Trail HS
Kinchen takes on collegiate track after racking up personal-best times of 2:40 in the 800 and 22:30 in the 5k. She lettered each of her four years as a prep in cross country where she was named freshman of the year and team captain. The Bartram Trail alum also lettered in weightlifting her final three years.
From the Coaches: “Abby has a wealth of experience in cross country in Fla. She will help stabilize the middle of pack for us this year in the fall. She one of those athletes that is super passionate about the sport. She will also run the 800m/1500m in the spring.”
About the Fighting Knights
Lynn University’s national champion Fighting Knights compete in baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, lacrosse, softball, soccer, swimming, tennis, track and volleyball.
