Women’s Basketball ‘19-20 Signing Class

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Following one of the most successful seasons in recent memory, Lynn University women’s basketball head coach Julia Huddleston Tucker and her staff announced five signees which make up the 2019-20 class on Monday afternoon.

“Our staff is very eager to start working with our incoming class of incredible student-athletes who all embody our culture of Spirit, Service, and Strength,” said Tucker. “We believe intertwining these five with our experienced group of returners will help us take the next step in the Sunshine State Conference. We can’t wait for our Fighting Knight fans to see them all in action next season.”

Sarah Baer
Senior | Center
Perrysburg, Ohio | University of Findlay | Perrysburg HS

Baer makes her way to Boca Raton after previous stops at Division I Bowling Green State University and Findlay University, both located in her home state of Ohio. A two-time second team all-state selection as a prep, the 6-1 senior transfer should make an immediate impact in the Fighting Knights frontcourt. An experienced veteran presence, Baer has logged 64 games in her collegiate career, mostly at the center position.

From the Coaches: “We look forward to adding Sarah’s experience and skill set to our very talented group of returning post players. Sarah already knows how focused she must be to compete at the collegiate level; therefore, with her mindset, strength and size she is a perfect fit for us.”

Heather Durand
Sophomore | Guard
Portsmouth, N.H. | Southern New Hampshire University | Bradford Christian Academy

Durand travels to sunny South Florida from snowy New Hampshire after one season at Southern New Hampshire University. The 5-7 guard saw time for a solid Penmen squad that went 17-12 in a strong NE10 conference which featured top-25 programs Bentley and Stonehill. Durand appeared in 15 games as a freshman, shooting 42.9 percent from beyond the arc.

From the Coaches: “Adding someone like Heather to our program was an easy decision because, along with her already having a year of college experience, she has also has a variety of skills that make her extremely versatile. Her ability to shoot the ball and defend a variety of positions is perfect for our system.”

Trinity Edwards
Freshman | Guard
Atlanta, Ga. | Chamblee Charter HS

Edwards, the lone freshman in 2019-20 signing class, joins the Fighting Knight family after a highly-decorated prep career at Chamblee Charter High School. The 5-8 guard earned DeKalb County MVP honors as a senior and was a three-time First Team All-Region honoree. DeKalb County’s top scorer, Edwards surpassed the 1,000-point milestone during her senior year, averaging nearly 20 ppg on her way to being named All-Metro area by the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

From the Coaches: “Although Trinity will be our only incoming freshman, her skill set is beyond her years. It takes a special person to stand out as high school player capable of competing in the SSC, but our staff was sold after seeing her work ethic, high motor and positive attitude.“

Taylor Jones
Junior | Guard
Miami, Fla. | Eastern Florida State College | Hialeah Senior High

Jones, a South Florida product, is welcomed to the Blue and White family after completing her junior college career at Eastern Florida State College. While at ESFC, Jones averaged 6.2 ppg, 4.7 rpg and 2.9 apg, a testament to her do-it-all ability as a combo guard. The 5-8 junior played in 28 games for the Titans in 2018-19, starting 25 in her lone season at ESFC.

From the Coaches: “We are very excited to incorporate Taylor’s court vision, calm demeanor and leadership at the point guard position. With her length and athleticism, she will also be a go-to defender in our system.”

Angeni Worley
Junior | Guard
Orlando, Fla. | Eastern Florida State College | Boone HS

Worley joins her EFSC backcourt-mate Jones after two seasons with the Titans. A second team all-conference honoree, the 5-8 guard showed her prowess from long range, making at least one three-pointer in all 28 games in 2018-19. She knocked down 123 total triples in her two-year junior college career, shooting at a 38.0 percent clip.

From the Coaches: “Angeni is a proven shooter and an incredibly positive teammate whose presence and passion will immediately be felt when she steps on the court. Additionally, both Taylor and Angeni have acquired a lot of basketball IQ, playing under the guidance of Coach MJ Baker at Eastern Florida for two years.”
