Lynn Track Soars at Embry-Riddle’s Spikes Classic

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. –  Lynn University’s women’s track team concluded its two-day competition at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University on Saturday, taking part in the annual Spikes Classic.

TOP TIMES:

FRIDAY

·       Lauren Leckenby and Darby Watts both notched new personal-bests in the 1,500m, posting times of 5:07.94 and 5:13.67, respectively.

·       Natalie Beck finished in the top-10 of the 5,000m to lead the Blue and White in this distance race, crossing the line in a new personal-best time of 19:35.24.

·       The Fighting Knights had two participants in Friday evening’s 10k with Alexandra Jones and Taryn Super finishing in second and fifth-place. Jones and Super’s respective times of 39:43.38 and 41:50.37 are both career-bests.

SATURDAY

·       Lynn had 10 total participants in the 800m alone highlighted by a fourth-place finish from Chase Yoder (2:21.18). Emmanuelle Le Tertre showed no signs of fatigue just days after her outstanding performance in Gainesville, joining Yoder in the top-10 with a seventh-place finish in a career-best 2:22.17.

·       Leckenby (9th), Watts (11th), Beck (13th) and Reece (15th) rounded out the six members of the Blue and White within the top-15 in the 800.

·       Madison Wells delivered a strong race in the 800m of the heptathlon, running a personal-best 2:28.21.

PERSONAL BESTS:

·       Watts, Leckenby – 1,500m

·       Beck, Jayden Reece (20:46.58) – 5,000m

·       Super, Jones – 10,000m

·       Le Tertre, Leckenby – 800m

·       Wells – 800m in Heptathlon 

UP NEXT:

Lynn has now completed its grueling stretch of six straight weekend meets and will enjoy three weeks off from competition before heading to Tampa for the University of South Florida Collegiate April 19-20.
