Lynn Swimming Completes Day 3 of NCAA National Championship

Indianapolis, Ind. – Lynn University’s swimming contingent completed its third day of competition at the NCAA Division II Women’s Swimming & Diving Championship.  The Fighting Knights had three swimmers race events but failed to advance to the evening finals.

Catalina Berraud-Galea swam the 500 freestyle in a time of 5:03.00 to place 39th in the event.  She has one event remaining, the 1650 freestyle.

Fresh of her turn in the 400 medley relay, Karolina Smylek took her second dip in the pool, competing in the 100 backstroke.  The freshman out of Lublin, Poland, missed out on an opportunity to swim in the 100 backstroke by three-tenths of a second, posting a time of 55.76.  Smylek returns for the 200 backstroke on Saturday.

Sarah Hughes was the final member of the Blue and White to compete, also missing out on a finals appearance in the 100 breaststroke.  She tapped the wall in 1:03.30, to place 20th, four-tenths of a second behind the 16th place finisher.

Lynn closes out the 2019 NCAA Division II Women’s Swimming & Diving Championship on Saturday.  Fans can watch the action live at LynnFightingKnights.com.
