Winter Park, Fla. – Lynn University’s softball team took an early lead over Rollins, one of the top teams in the Sunshine State Conference, but the Tars proved too much in a 6-1 loss on Friday evening. Kayla Sheffield drove in the lone run for the Fighting Knights.

STATS OF THE GAME:
- Lynn took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first off a Sheffield single but Rollins responded with three runs in the home half before tacking on runs in the third, fourth and sixth innings.
- Sheffield went 2-for-3 with a triple and RBI.
- Shayle Arenson was 1-for-4 with a run scored.
- Shannon Johnson collected the Blue and White’s final hit.
- Allyson Jameston (5-15) earned the nod in the circle. Two errors led to four unearned runs as she surrendered six runs, two earned, on nine hits with a pair of K’s and walks.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Sheffield’s triple is the first of her career.
- Sheffield’s RBI gives her 17 on the season, tied for second on the team with Elizabeth Diaz and one behind Arenson.
- Jameston tosses her 13th complete game of the year, tying for the team-lead with Sheffield.
