Lynn Men’s Golf Takes Sixth at Copperhead Championship

Innisbrook, Fla. – Lynn University’s top-ranked men’s golf team shot 293 in the final round of the Copperhead Championship to finish sixth out of 17 teams.  Carlos Bustos was the top finisher for the Fighting Knights, tying for 15th individually.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

·         Lynn’s final round gave the squad a 54-hole score of 870, just one shot back of host West Florida for a top-five finish.  Barry (850) took top honors as the only school under par.  Columbus State (857) placed second followed by Lincoln memorial (863) and Georgia Southwestern (866).

·         Bustos was not able to match his record-setting round from the previous day and ended the tournament with a 75 en route to a 215 total.

·         Toto Gana was consistent throughout, logging scores of 73-72-73 for a 218 total and tying for 25th.

·         Giovanni Manzoni had the low round for Lynn, carding his second consecutive 72 and finishing with a 219 total.

·         Jorge Villar notched a 220 (74-73-73) with Justin Wynen adding a 224 (76-72-76).

BEYOND THE SCORECARD:

·         Lynn led the field in total pars with 178 and was third in par 3 scoring (+8) and fourth in par 5 scoring (-8).

·         Manzoni and Gana accounted for 75 of the team’s total pars.
