Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – The Lynn University softball team concluded its Sunshine State Conference road series against Nova Southeastern with 8-0 and 3-1 losses on Wednesday evening.

STATS OF THE GAME:

·         Game 1

o   The Sharks plated three runs in the fourth inning and three runs in the sixth to put the game out of reach.

o   Kayla Sheffield (8-11) earned the nod in the circle and fanned two batters over 5.1 innings of work, allowing eight hits and eight runs, four earned.

o   Lexie Storrer (10-9) got the start for the Sharks pitching four shutout innings and allowing no runs and three hits.

o   Mackenzie Wyatt, Shayle Arenson, Britney Purser and Sheffield all logged hits for the Blue and White. Sheffield’s base-knock was a double.

o   Elizabeth Diaz and Makayla Caballero both walked; Mia Veliz was hit by a pitch.

·         Game 2

o   Olivia Saviskas (3-5) tossed a complete game for the Fighting Knights allowing three runs on six hits and striking out four batters.

o   Diaz was the lone player with a multi-hit game in the contest.

o   Arenson, Sheffield and Purser also logged a hit for the Blue and White.

o   Sophia Devesa and Grace Hastings both walked; Veliz was hit by a pitch.

o   Storrer (11-9) had nearly the same line in game two; allowing no runs on three hits in four innings in the circle to record the win.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

·         Lynn had no strikeouts at the plate for the first time in conference play this season. It is the first time since April 22, 2017 against Florida Tech, the squad had no K’s offensively.

·         With a hit in game two, Arenson reached 100 hits in her career.

·         This was the first time in her career Veliz has been hit by a pitch in back-to-back games.

·         The 8-0 loss in game one was the first eight run shutout of the season against the Blue and White.

·         Saviskas tossed her fifth complete game of the season. All have come in her last five starts.

·         With her complete game, this is the first time since the 2002-03 season the Fighting Knights have had three pitchers with five or more complete games in a season.

·         Nova attempted four stolen bases in each game of the series.

The Fighting Knights have a week off before they continue SSC play on the road at Eckerd on Friday, April 12. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m.
