The Jacksonville Jaguars have nominated LB Myles Jack for the NFL’s 2021Salute to Service Award, the NFL announced today. The Salute to Service Award presented by USAA recognizes NFL players, coaches, personnel and alumni who demonstrate an exemplary commitment to honoring and supporting the military and veteran communities. Finalists are scheduled to be announced in January, and the recipient will be recognized at NFL Honors, a prime-time awards special to air nationally the week of Super Bowl LVI.
Originally drafted by the Jaguars in the second round of the 2016 draft, Jack has dedicated much of his NFL career contributing to the NFL’s Salute to Service efforts.
In 2019, Jack embarked on a weeklong tour to South Korea with the USO as an extension of the NFL’s Salute to Service initiative. A collaborative effort between the USO and NFL, the tour was aimed to salute and honor those who protect and defend our freedoms abroad. While in South Korea, Jack met and visited with several military units, spending time with service members and their families and in turn was given a unique, in-depth perspective of the daily life of the men and women who defend our freedom tirelessly around the clock.
Jack also chose to recognize the USO through the NFL’s My Cause My Cleats campaign. Jack said this about his decision to represent the USO on his cleats: “I traveled to South Korea earlier this year as a part of a weeklong NFL USO tour and had the opportunity to spend time with our U.S. troops stationed overseas. Being that far away from your family for a long time is difficult, and they do it with such pride for our country. My cleats are dedicated to their sacrifices. The work the USO is doing to celebrate and honor these selfless individuals is worthy of our support.”
More recently, Jack has attended Pros vs. GI Joe, an event where the Jaguars invite 25 active-duty military members to interact with players through video game challenges. Jack has also participated in the Stars and Strikes bowling event to spend time with and support 200 military members and their families for a free night of bowling at Naval Station Mayport in Jacksonville.
In 2021, The Myles Jack Foundation provided Jaguars swag for military families, including 250-plus children at the 1st Annual Jaguars Trunk or Treat event. The event provided children an evening of trick-or-treating in a fun and safe environment. The sixth-year linebacker also previously hosted a free movie night for 150-plus military families and children.
Jack takes great pride in honoring the military as his great uncle, John Marshall Valrie, proudly served our country during the Vietnam War while on the USS Seattle, enlisting in the Navy at the age of 18.
