Laura Žemberyová Represents Slovakian National Team in World Cup Qualification

BIRMINGHAM – Laura Zemberyova recently played two more matches for the Slovakian National team in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualification (UEFA).
 
Slovakia is in Group A along with Finland, Georgia, Ireland and Sweden. In all, there are nine total qualifying groups. The qualifying stage was decided by the draw held in April 2021 with the teams seeded according to their coefficient ranking. The group is played in home-and-away round-robin format between September 2021 and September 2022.
 
On Nov. 25, Slovakia traveled to Dublin to face Ireland. Slovakia got on the board first in the 47th minute, but Ireland got the equalizer in the 65th minute as the contest ended in a 1-1 draw.
 
Zemberyova started Slovakia’s match at first-place Sweden on Nov. 30. Sweden, who has only allowed one goal in the entire tournament, scored in the 19th, 59th and 69th minutes in its 3-0 victory.
 
This was Zemberyova’s second start, the first coming on Sept. 21 at Finland.  
 
Currently, Slovakia is 1-3-1 with four points and sits in fourth place. The next scheduled match is April 8, 2022 against Finland.
