BIRMINGHAM – Laura Zemberyova was named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week presented by Surf & Turf Golf, the league announced on Tuesday. The Prešov, Slovakia scored the golden goal in the 109th minute of UAB’s 2-1 victory at Southern Miss on Friday evening, handing USM its first conference loss of the season. For the match, Zemberyova finished with three shots, two on target. “We are all very happy for Laura and overall, the recognition for our team,” said head coach Erica Demers. “This goal was coming for our players, and it truly was the overall effort from our goalkeeper through to our forwards to create this moment.” The Blazers remain on the road for their next match, facing Rice on Oct. 8. UAB returns home on Oct. 15 to host North Texas for the annual Bark in the Park night. ===
