Late Run Lifts FAU Over Albany

TROY, N.Y. –  A 15-0 run in the second half propelled the Florida Atlantic University men’s basketball team to a 73-56 road win over Albany on Saturday. The Owls are now 5-1 on the young season, which matches the program’s best start since 2018-19, when FAU went 6-1. The Owls also extend their current winning streak to four games.

MASSIVE SECOND HALF RUN LEADS TO WIN

After the Owls took a 38-26 lead into the locker room, Albany stormed back after the break to tie the game at 52-52 with 7:54 to play, yet it was all FAU after that. The Owls dominated the next five minutes with a 15-0 run, holding the Great Danes scoreless while opening up a commanding 67-52 lead.

Michael Forrest caught fire and knocked down back-to-back 3-pointers, with the second one giving FAU a 62-52 lead. After FAU got another stop, Nick Boyd was fouled in transition and knocked down a pair of free throws.

On the next FAU possession, the Owls showcased elite ball movement. All five players touched the ball, some more than once, and swung it around the perimeter with the Great Dane defense scrambling. Forrest eventually found Brandon Weatherspoon with the last pass, and Weatherspoon connected from long distance to cap off the major run and put FAU ahead by 15 with 2:14 to go
