KANSAS CITY – On Friday, the United Soccer Coaches announced the midfielders on the NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Players to Watch lists for the upcoming 2022 season.
KRSTEC LANDS ON WATCH LIST
Gi Krstec, a senior midfielder on the Florida Atlantic University women’s soccer team, was named as one of 38 midfielders on the 2022 NCAA Division I Women’s Watch List.
Krstec joins her teammate Amanda Martin as the first two players in FAU history to be named to the United Soccer Coaches Players to Watch List. Martin was named as one of 35 defenders to the list earlier this week.
Krstec, one of three FAU captains this season, has been a terrific asset at midfielder for the Owls throughout her career and earned United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-South Region honors in 2021. She was additionally a First Team All-Conference USA recipient.
In 17 starts, Krstec ranked third on the team in shots (29) and shots on goal (10). In the team’s 1-0 victory over UTEP, Krstec came through in the clutch with a goal in the 88th minute to break the scoreless tie and give FAU the key conference win.
SEASON OPENER ON THE HORIZON
FAU is set to open the 2022 season in just nine days, when the Owls will host the Crimson Tide of Alabama to the FAU football stadium on Aug. 18.
