Krstec Chosen to College Soccer News National Team of the Week

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Gi Krstec, a redshirt senior captain of the Florida Atlantic University women’s soccer team, has been selected to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week.

Krstec’s honors come after a strong pair of games in a 2-0 week for the Owls. In the 2-1 win over Kansas, Krstec shifted the momentum by scoring the equalizer in the 29th minute. She ran down a turnover in Kansas territory and took it all the way for her third score of the season.

Against North Texas, Krstec scored what held up as the game-winner in the 4th minute. Krstec took a pass from Kaylin Johnston inside the box and buried it for her fourth goal of the season. FAU ended North Texas’ NCAA Division I record 65-game home conference unbeaten streak with the win.

QUOTABLE“Getting recognized as a selection to this week’s national team selection motivates me,” Krstec said. “We have had a great start to the season, and I’m eager to see us maintain that momentum. I’m ambitious to have a successful last season, and I admire my team for making that achievable.”

“We would like to thank College Soccer News for recognizing Gi on her performances from last week,” FAU head coach Patrick Baker said. ” She had two impressive performances against Kansas and North Texas. Gi turned the game around last Thursday against the Jayhawks with an unbelievable individual effort that resulted in her tying the game at 1-1. On Sunday in our first C-USA game of the year, she scored the lone goal of the game at North Texas, which was a huge moment that resulted in a 1-0 win. Gi has been playing at a high level over the past few weeks, and we are glad to see her get recognized.”
